Considering a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel?

If you're considering the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for your family our site should help you make your choice easier. You can research and familiarize yourself with the breed standard as this will help you understand the variety within the breed.

You will find information and links that assist you in choosing your cavalier. Boy or girl? New puppy or older adult? These questions need to be given consideration as to what is best for your family.

All breeds have certain health issues. The cavalier is no exception and every responsible pet owner should research and increase their knowledge so there are no surprises. By being informed you can ask your breeder questions about health tests as well as nutrition and other topics regarding the care of your new family member.

By purchasing your dog from a reputable breeder you're assured of its pedigree, its health and all the careful planning and care as the litter was raised.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Health Issues

For the most part Cavaliers are healthy dogs, but like most breeds they have conditions to which they are susceptible. One of these, Mitral Valve Disorder (MVD) has been the focus of increased research as its occurrence has risen among Cavaliers. Other disorders such as hip dysplasia and luxating patellas have registering bodies that certify Cavaliers clear of these conditions and help insure the overall health of the breed. See more information below.
